Have you struggled with drawing eyes? Have you tried drawing eyes and never got it quite right?

This tutorial will help you get started with drawing realistic eyes.

Most guides to drawing the eyes skip over the most important part: getting the structure of the eye correct.

To get the structure correct, you need to have a solid understanding of the structure of the eye and be able to draw it. To do this, you need to break the eye, as a shape, down to it's simplest forms. Getting the eyes right is often a matter of making sure subtle edges and corners line up correctly.

Copy the simple forms and diagrams below. Learn to draw the whole shape accurately. Draw both sides of the eye.

Pay attention to the lines that cross the surface of the eyeball. Make sure these line up. Practicing these basic forms will give you a base of understanding and facility with the forms of the eye. As you get more comfortable, add more detail and shading, but make sure the basic forms are in place first.
