After the Shipwreck - Design for an Illustration of Coleridge's The Rime of the Ancient Mariner

I love this piece because if you, like me, happened to be an angst-ridden teenager in the 90's, you might well have spent some time getting absorbed into the amazing worlds constructed by Gustave Dore. Most of his work is presented as engravings, however, this was a neat find as it is an original gouache. A gouache like this must have been a preparation for mass-produced engraving, so I was delighted to find an original, non-engraving work by Dore.
